How to check the balance on a GreenDot Visa Card

The fastest and easiest way to check your balance is by texting “BAL Last 4” to 43411 where “Last 4” is the last 4 digits of your gift card number. Text “HIST Last 4” to check your transactions. Before using this texting service, you’ll need to register your mobile number with Green Dot. Click here to register, or log into your account. Then, select Account Settings, Edit Contact Info, and enter your mobile number. They do not charge customers to receive a text message; however, data and message rates still apply from your phone carrier. Yes, you will select a 4 digit PIN (personal identification number) when you activate your Personalized Card. Visa may block ATM withdrawals in some countries due to fraud or security concerns. You may only withdraw up to $400 per day.

Can you use a Green Dot Visa Prepaid Card to pay bills?

Yes you can, but only from your Personalized Card. However, it is your responsibility to make sure you have enough funds available on your Green Dot each time the recurring transaction is due. These merchants may suspend or cancel your service if you don’t have enough money left on your card when they attempt to charge the monthly payment. This could be dangerous if the recurring charge is for an essential service.
