It’s been almost two years since we last published our “Top 10 Most Popular Gift Cards”. We think it is time for an update. It will be interesting to see if the economy has any part to play in which gift cards are now popular. To spice things up a bit, we have also included data from our Wish List, in addition to our purchase data. So, as of March 2010, here are the Top 10 Most Popular Gift Cards according GiftCardRescue customers:
It looks like the Top 5 has shifted slightly from two years ago, with Walmart, Target, Home Depot all moving up the list. Visa has dropped from number 1 to number 5 while American Express gift card is no longer in the top 10. Does that mean the bank issued gift cards are losing their luster? As a side note, Amazon.com was ranked second but since by our contract with Amazon.com, we do not buy and sell their gift cards, we decided to omit it from the list.
Does the economy have anything to do with it? Also, it’s interesting to see McDonald’s make the 10 top. Is this a sign of the times?
