What is Gift Card Giving Day?
For the Nonprofits:
We all have our reasons for donating around the holidays, but nonprofits need funds all year round to continue to continue to serve the community. Many nonprofit organizations struggle with fundraising after the holidays. Gift Card Giving Day provides a new and innovative way for nonprofits to increase donations especially in the first quarter. With $44 billion in unused gift cards floating around since 2008, your organization can tap into this new donation stream to raise funds. Here is how.
For the Donors:
Gift Card Giving Day (GCGD) is a day dedicated to making a difference. Individuals are given the opportunity to donate unwanted gift cards/merchandise credits to nonprofit organizations participating in the Gift Card Giving Day program. Gift Card Giving Day emerged from the desire to provide nonprofits with the opportunity to tap into the overwhelming amount of gift cards that go unused each year. With a projected $750 Million in gift cards going unused this year (and $44 billion since 2008), there is an opportunity for nonprofits to utilize these gift cards and help those in need. Gift Card Giving Day, powered by GiftCards.Org, gives donors the ability to get rid of their forgotten and unused gift cards and donate them towards a good cause.
The first annual Gift Card Giving Day will be held on January 21st, 2015. Mark your calendars for a day of giving!
