My vanilla Visa gift card had $150. When I went to use it, there was nothing on it. I called Visa and they gave me the runaround. I finally reached the lost/stolen card section and they gave me a hard time, admitting the cards they issued were faulty. Since it was bought months ago, my mom didn't have the receipt and without a receipt they won't even look at it.

The people were so adamant and rude, I was in tears at the end of hours on the phone. This was not what my mom wanted when she bought me the gift card.

Please do not buy gift cards when cash will do. It can be an embarrassing situation when it's declined at the cash register or frustrating when the companies don't honour them.

I dislike gift cards, yet I constantly get them as gifts. This is the second time this has happened to me with a gift card and I can't believe a company as big as Visa is able to screw up on a product like these gift cards and have the customers pay.

I believe these Visa cards are a scam as they leave people like me short $150.

I just bought a $250 vanilla visa gift card from shoppers drug mart. I tried registering it online, it declined and said the card was not yet "activated". I went back to shoppers drug mart and they told me there's nothing they could do that I had to contact visa. So i contacted them and they told me i had to wait 24 hours for the card to be activated. So the next day i tried making some purchases and registering it, it still said it was invalid. So i called the company again, and the guy told me the card had a balance of $0! and that its invalid. so he told me to give them my information and send them a fax of the front and back of the card, the package and my receipt. Also my card starts with a 4729, does that mean it's fake? Anyways I will try to send them the fax, if they don't reply, I think I may have to file a complaint against them, cause this total bs and i'm really frustrated right now!

On December 20th 2011 I bought a Visa Prepaid Gift Card for my husband for a Christmas gift. This was a $75.00 Gift Card which I also paid $5.50 for an activation fee. The card in total cost me $80.50. When my husband went to use the card he was unable to do so. Apparently the company packaged the cards wrong and we did not receive a working card. We call them immediately and were unable to fix this issue over the phone. The request that we fax the front and back of the card, the package and the store receipt of the purchased card. We did this beginning of January and a week later we were told they could not read the numbers on the front of the card. So I went back to staples and re-faxed it again on 20 Jan. One month later and no calls or new card I call them again. Apparently they still can’t read the front of the card and can’t give us our money back or a new card. So as of right now Vanilla Visa has stolen our money and wont do anything to fix. I am going to be trying a new method of getting my money back by scanning the stupid card in color. Maybe now they can read it and stop stealing our money. If any of you out there were affected by this leave a post.

Also to those out there that bought these cards from Shoppers Drug Mart and did not retain a receipt and lost their money because they will not reimburse you or send you a new card without one, Please leave a post with your story. Maybe we can get enough followers on this group that we will get their attention and everyone can get their money back. My advice never again by a Visa Prepaid Gift Card!

The Vanilla Visa Gift Card is a ripoff, I bought a 25.00 card. I tried to buy something and the site uses WePay. Well Wepay got my 25.00 but did not process it to the site that I was buying from.

I called Vanilla Visa Gift Card and from them they say well to bad. So now I am stuck between to different site. I will never buy another Vanilla Visa Gift Card. I am just glad I only lost $25.00 dollars. LOL I guess you have to pay to learn some lessens.

My grandmother got me a $25 Vanilla Visa gift card for Christmas this year. She didn't notice that $3.95 is deducted from the total, so it was really a $21.05 gift card.

That is a 15.8% charge just for using the card. Imagine if your bank or a real credit card charged a 15.8% "usage fee" just to spend your own money.

What a scam. Thanks for ripping off my grandma!

I have purchased a $450 gift card (vanilla visa card) the card did not work, so I called the 1 (800) number. They said they will send me a new one. It's been 45 days. Yes 45 days. I've called several times, and every time they tell me a different story. They are crooks scamm. I will not stop, save your receipt and complaint to the FDIC they regulates the Bancorp that issue this vanilla card.

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CARD. I was very eager to buy something online, only to have that thought crushed, because this card WILL NOT WORK ONLINE. DO NOT BUY, unless you really want to go through all this frustration...
